Reading takes you through many adventures!

Welcome to the 2015-16 school year! This year we will team teaching as follows: Mrs. Rios-Reading and Social Studies, and Mrs.Garza-Math and Science; Grammar, AR will be in my homeroom. This is an SSI grade level, which means students are expected to pass their STAAR Tests. Make sure your child attends school daily and comes prepared. Class begins at 7:40.
The first six weeks we will be working on literary elements (paraphrazing and summarizing)and analyzing poetry. The second six weeks we will be reading literary non-fiction (biographies and autobiographies), elements of drama, and Persuasive Texts.The third six weeks we will focus on Expository texts, and fourth six weeks will be Making Connections across genres (Paired Selections). The fifth six weeks we will continue with Making Connections and review before the STAAR. The last six weeks we will be completing a Mini Research project: "Pursuit of Passion."

Tutorials will begin in January 2015 on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:15-5:00, and Saturdays from 8-12.
